Hampshire Design Inc.

 

In 1997, Pierre Hampshire founded Hampshire Design Inc., a residential design firm based in Toronto. Projects emphasized light, space, unusual materials, novel storage ideas and precise execution of details. The work has been appreciated by our clients and published in Canadian House and Home.

 

While the custom elements in these projects involved close collaboration with clients to meet specific requirements, similarities emerged in the underlying needs and design solutions. It made sense to capture the essence of these one-offs and to make them more widely available at a production scale. The positive reaction to these from a wider audience has prompted a shift in focus for the company.

 

Our designs strive to be functional, precise and beautiful. Crucial to these pieces is that they are designed, at the outset, to benefit from the creative contribution of the end-user. The products use a minimum of materials, a maximum of recycled content, and environmentally responsible manufacturing methods. We believe that a product is green if, through responsible design and solid construction, aesthetic pleasure and long-term utility, it stays out of landfill.
